Aplasia of the epididymis in the bull has been described as aplasia segmentalis ductus wolffii, which may be either unilateral, bilateral, segmental or total and may affect the epididymis and the testicular duct. This malformation occurs in different cattle breeds and likely follows an autosomal monogenic inheritance. Affected bulls show a reduced fertility as ejaculates with variable degree of dysspermia are related to the morphological and functional anomalies.
We would like to investigate the frequency and genetic causes of this diesease. Therefore, we ask breeders, artificial insemination stations, and veterinary andrologists to report bulls suspected of having this congenital anomaly.
