Polydactyly is the presence of extra digits at the paws. This trait has been known for a long time. The inheritance is most likely monogenic autosomal dominant. We would like to identify the causative mutation for polydactyly in cats. For the research we need EDTA blood samples from polydactylous cats, ideally together with their parents and siblings. We therefore ask breeders and owners to donate samples for our research. If you would like to contribute a sample, please follow the instructions shown below. The form can be filled at the computer and printed subsequently.
