Atopic dermatitis in the Labrador and Golden Retriever
Atopic Dermatitis occurs in various dog breeds and is caused by a combination of environmental and genetic factors. Characteristic symptoms include pronounced itching and skin changes, which are mostly found at the head, the paws, the belly, and in skin creases of the joints. Affected dogs also frequently suffer from recurrent ear infections. We would like to study predisposing genetic factors that lead to the development of atopic dermatitis in Labrador and Golden Retrievers. Therefore we collect samples from affected and unaffected dogs from these breeds. If you would like to participate with your dog in our research project, we kindly ask that you contact the Division of Clinical Dermatology at the Small Animal Clinic in Bern (head: Frau Prof. Dr. Petra Roosje).
