Within the DFG Research Unit 753 "Genetic and functional mechanisms of water binding capacity in pork (DRIP)" we investigated positional and functional candidate genes for their association with the trait drip loss. Our subproject comprised the characterization and marker development of candidate genes, genotyping of phenotyped animals with the developed markers, and the implementation of association studies.
