Our mission is to create an extensive biobank and databank that serves as a foundational resource for a multitude of genetic studies aimed at better understanding and improving canine health.
Our efforts are centered on gathering a wide array of biological samples and health information from both healthy and diseased dogs, covering conditions such as dysplasia, osteochondritis dissecans (OCD), epilepsy, eye diseases, cancer, and coat color variation. By compiling data from a diverse canine population, our research will delve into the complex interplay of genetic factors that contribute to these phenotypes.
We invite all owners and breeders to participate. Contributions include blood samples and data on dogs including photos and pedigrees. Whether your dog is in perfect health, has been diagnosed with a specific condition, or somewhere in between, your participation is highly valuable.
Participation in this initiative can aid in the identification of disease-linked genes but will also contribute to long-term studies focused on the overall well-being of dogs. The data collected will be instrumental in the development of breed-specific diagnostic tools, and informed breeding strategies that prioritize the health and vitality of future generations.
