According to the Federal Statistical Office (Farm Structure Survey 2012), around 88,000 goats are kept in Switzerland, but what about their genetic health? Do hereditary defects occur in goats and if so, which breeds are affected and to what extent? To clarify this question, a survey was carried out in 2013 on the occurrence of genetic anomalies in Swiss goat breeding.
